My Disney Desktop!

Here’s some more news that’s come across my desk that I wanted to share!

We saw Moana in the theater back in December and ordered it on demand the day it came out – and I have to tell you – I love it more and more each time I see it… AND there is no way you can watch this Oscar segment, featuring the actress who voices Moana, Auli’i Cravalho, and not LOVE her too!  Her pure and refreshing performance tops most things I’ve seen in recent times. (click here)

Have you ever gone DisneyBounding?…or even know what I’m talking about?  DisneyBounding is when you dress in pieces of clothing and accessories that are in step with a Disney character.  For example, during one visit to Magic Kingdom Park last year, I wore green mermaid scale leggings, a lavender top and a sea star hair clip…I was DisneyBounding as Ariel!  Just recently John Stamos strutted his stuff in a DisneyBounding outfit of his own! (click here)

Now you want in on DisneyBounding too – don’t you?  Well Disney has now made it easier than ever!  Check out this new line of clothing that will be available at Disney Springs later this month! (click here)

Another new thing available at Disney Springs is New Personalized Storybooks at the Photopass Studio.  I can see this being the BEST magical vacation memento! (click here)

It’s been snowing up here in the North East – so I’m dreaming of summer…here’s a fun video with some Lilo and Stitch summer inspired nails – doing this may just be the pick me up I need! (click here)

Hope you enjoyed these articles – let me know which ones you liked best!  I’ll keep sorting through the good and the bad to bring you the best Disney updates in My Disney Desktop!

Also- don’t forget – Sprinkling Pixie Dust is about to turn ONE!  I’m giving away a $100 Disney gift card to one lucky winner to mark the occasion – see how you can enter! (click here)

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort- French Quarter

Last month I had a wonderful 4 night stay at Disney’s Port Orleans – French Quarter!  I had read many reviews with people raving about this “moderate” Walt Disney World Resort hotel and wanted to see it for myself.  My verdict?…The reviews were correct!  This hotel was a perfect mix of Disney’s magic, detail, and hospitality!

The resort is on the small side – so returning home from the parks made me feel like I was returning home to my little neighborhood.  The feature pool was immaculate and I even tried the pool slide – something I haven’t done since I was a teen – I loved it!  For my youngest daughter – the newly redesigned water splash area (complete with mini water slides of it’s own) was a dream come true!  During this visit the main dining hall, Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory, was under contruction, so we had to make due with the temporary “pop up” type restaurant.  There was bus service available to the neighboring hotel, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside, and we enjoyed a meal at their food court and got to enjoy the different vibe of that hotel!

We focused our trip on the parks, so we didn’t leave room in our schedule for some of the other recreational activities that French Quarter had to offer, but I’m hoping to give them a try on a future visit!

Here’s a “Wordless Wednesday” type look at this special Walt Disney World Resort Hotel!

So much news, so little time!

That’s how I feel as I pour through all the Disney related websites and news articles that come my way.  Some of it is full of useful and interesting info…the rest, not so much…

inbox

So I thought I’d sort through some of it for you and from time to time highlight a few links that have passed my desktop and really caught my eye!

I’ll start today!

Forbes reports that Zootopia is the second-biggest original movie ever!(read here)…and today it was released on DVD!  We just ordered it On-Demand and will be watching it later today! On the flip side, Disney’s latest Alice movie didn’t do as well as expected (read here) – I admit, I haven’t seen it yet….have any of you? I’d love to hear what you think in the comments!

Another thing new starting today…you can now make reservations for a new dining package at Tony’s Town Square Restaurant in the Magic Kingdom.  The Main Street Electrical Parade Dining Package is described on the My Disney Experience Website as this: “Indulge in a Lady and the Tramp-inspired lunch by day before enjoying VIP viewing of the Main Street Electrical Parade at night.”  You can read about the details  on the Disney Parks Blog (here).

Heading to Disney Springs? If you’re taking Disney bus transportation you’ll now be dropped off at the new bus depot at the centrally located Town Center (read here).  This will be a nice change – now if you’re on the Westside you won’t have to walk all the way back to the Marketplace on the East side to be picked up.

I’m getting excited to visit Animal Kingdom and see all the new nighttime additions (read here) – for now, I’ve been looking through  “Nighttime Inspired Wallpapers” – you can download them too from (here). I can’t wait to see the Tree of Life “awaken” at night!

Now this is the most fun article I found this week “5 Disney Movie Secrets from Alan Menken” (read here).  Numbers 1 & 2 are my favorite – which are yours? Let us know!

Stay tuned for more editions of  My Disney Desktop!

My daughter and I had a chance to visit the Bakery in May…

yummy donut
I believe “Best.Donut.Ever” was my daughter’s review. Please note there isn’t seating at the bakery, we took our treats with us.

I think this smile says it all!

…and I love that you can visit Disney Springs and experience that Disney magic anytime you’re in the neighborhood – no ticket or advanced planning required!

Check out the full Erin McKenna’s Bakery menu here!

Winter’s End Trip Starts at Disney Springs

IMG_7029

My daughter (age 5) and I were fortunate enough to take some time away together for our first ever Mommy/Daughter weekend.  After settling into the Pop Century resort we started our evening of activities at Disney Springs, Disney World’s downtown district that is filled with shops, restaurants, shows and fun!  Our resort bus dropped us off at the Marketplace area.  We immediately started to check out the shops! We bought a pair of personalized EARS for a friend who is turning one next month (and having a Mickey themed birthday party) at the Wonderful World of Memories store.  We literally went into every store in the Marketplace area.  The Disney’s Days of Christmas shop is always a treat to visit – you are instantly greeted by cast members with a “Merry Christmas” upon entering – no matter what day of the year it is outside their doors.  Everyday is Christmas? – yes, thank you!  The store is filled to the ceiling with ornaments and Disney Christmas décor.  They currently have a small Frozen themed merchandise nook off to one side of the store.

Another store that knocked our socks off was Continue Reading
