It’s time for another Disney Friend Friday!

…and for today I’ve picked the newest crown princess, who has a theme song that sticks in my head all day…

Elena!  Elena!…of Avalor!!!!

My family loves watching all of the adventures Elena and her family and friends experience!  For those of you that don’t know Elena, but think “Avalor” sounds familiar – it should!  Sofia the First wears the Amulet of Avalor…connection???  There sure is!…of course when Elena first premiered back in July – we heard she had been freed from the amulet – but there wasn’t an episode that told us how…and then on Sofia the First all of a sudden Sofia’s amulet and dress were now pink?!?!  Sure, I googled it and found out the back story – but FINALLY, NEXT WEEKEND, on Sunday, November 20th, the tv movie “Elena and the Secret of Avalor” will premiere on both the Disney Channel and Disney Junior and everyone’s questions should be answered!

Later that week, Crown Princess Elena will start meeting guests in Princess Fairytale Hall in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort.  Currently she has a show on the Castle Stage, where Cinderella welcomes her and then Elena picks up her guitar and sings her popular song “My Time”.  I imagine that once the meet and greet begins, the Castle show will end.

Here’s a picture of Elena from this summer, when we caught her show!

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort- French Quarter

Last month I had a wonderful 4 night stay at Disney’s Port Orleans – French Quarter!  I had read many reviews with people raving about this “moderate” Walt Disney World Resort hotel and wanted to see it for myself.  My verdict?…The reviews were correct!  This hotel was a perfect mix of Disney’s magic, detail, and hospitality!

The resort is on the small side – so returning home from the parks made me feel like I was returning home to my little neighborhood.  The feature pool was immaculate and I even tried the pool slide – something I haven’t done since I was a teen – I loved it!  For my youngest daughter – the newly redesigned water splash area (complete with mini water slides of it’s own) was a dream come true!  During this visit the main dining hall, Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory, was under contruction, so we had to make due with the temporary “pop up” type restaurant.  There was bus service available to the neighboring hotel, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside, and we enjoyed a meal at their food court and got to enjoy the different vibe of that hotel!

We focused our trip on the parks, so we didn’t leave room in our schedule for some of the other recreational activities that French Quarter had to offer, but I’m hoping to give them a try on a future visit!

Here’s a “Wordless Wednesday” type look at this special Walt Disney World Resort Hotel!

It’s time for another Disney Friend Friday!

I was so lucky to meet these 3 hard to find characters at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party!

I absolutely love Disney’s Tarzan.  It has an all-star cast, including Tony Goldwyn, Minnie Driver, Glenn Close & Rosie O’Donnell.  The soundtrack of the film is also 100% Phil Collins – and I love it!

Here’s “Strangers Like Me”:

Here’s a truly beautiful song, that as a mom, always makes me tear up:

Phil Collins You’ll Be In My Heart (Tarzan… by AussieSean

Meeting Terk, Tarzan and Jane was tons of fun.  Terk played around, Tarzan was constantly trying to look into every treat bag people had and discover new things and learn new words, and just like in the movie, Jane was quite the talker.  That particular evening she told me all the trouble the humidity was causing her hair.  Such a fun character interaction!  (Please note, that you can meet Tarzan, without Terk and Jane at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.)

Disney Store – Times Square NYC!

It’s been a week since my last trip to Walt Disney World Resort…and knowing it will be some time before my next trip back, I need to find ways to keep the Disney magic alive while home!  One thing I like to do is visit my local Disney Store…which happens to be in Times Square!

This store does a tremendous job of making you feel your visit is special!  When they first open the doors in the morning they put on a song and dance number to welcome the waiting guests!

Then, they select one family to be the “official store openers” and turn the special Disney key – last time we went our family was picked!!

You even get a free smaller version of the key to take home with you!  This one’s going on our Christmas tree!

The Times Square Disney Store is amazing!  They are always having interactive contests – just listen for announcements while you’re in the store and play along!

They have NYC themed merchandise.

A HUGE HUGE selection of the cutest things!

Look at what you get to experience while riding the escalator to the 2nd floor…be sure to check out the branches for some hidden Disney friends!

Half of the upstairs could be considered “Princess Central”!

This magic mirror comes alive and greets you with fun messages!

There’s an area with a huge screen where you can help choose what’s being shown!  There’s also a table where I’ve seen them have art supplies layed out for children.

If you are a Princess Elena fan – they are fully stocked on her products!

I love the size and detail of the store décor!

And of course…the shopping bag – you have to bring yourself something home!!

It’s time for another Disney Friend Friday!  Only this time it’s 7 friends!

I had such a fun time meeting the 7 Dwarfs at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP) this week!  It’s not every day you can meet all 7 at once!… In fact, at Walt Disney World Resort you can only meet all of them together during MNSSHP and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.  You can also see them walk by and give them a wave during the Festival of Fantasy Parade at Magic Kingdom Park, which usually takes place at 3pm, but you should check the Times Guide or the My Disney Experience App to confirm.

It’s time for another Disney Friend Friday!

After our first full week of school and cranky-crabby mornings, I feel like everyone in my family has been Cinderella and her step mother, Lady Tremaine, all rolled into one.  Do this! Do that! Hurry up!  Meanwhile each of us is doing 1,000 things to get out the door on time!

We met Lady Tremaine, her daughters, Cinderella and the Prince at 1900 Park Fare during Cinderella’s Happily Ever After Dinner at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.  Truth be told, she was far more charming than the prince!  She tried earnestly to set my 5 year old son up with Anastasia and had us rolling with laughter.  The buffet was incredible too – with far more selection than many of the other buffet meals we’ve indulged in.

As for school mornings…We made it through the week and I’m sure next week will be better – I keep believing that the dreams that I wish will come true!

I can’t believe it was 25 years ago that this Beauty enchanted us for the 1st time!

We love meeting with Belle!  This character has such a pure heart and an equally pure singing voice!  We always try to catch her on stage during Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage at Disney’s Hollywood Studios…but here we have a more personal encounter during Enchanted Tales with Belle at Magic Kingdom Park.  This is a very special attraction where the children help tell the tale as old as time!

How’s this for a photo opportunity?  What a backdrop!

You can also meet Belle while dining at both Cinderella’s Royal Table and Akershus Royal Banquet Hall.  Belle meets with guests in her blue and white outfit in the France Pavilion in Epcot.

Happy anniversary Beauty and the Beast!  You can order the Beauty and the Beast 25th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray Combo Pack from the Disney Store!
