Today’s Disney Friend Friday is a belated celebration of Winnie the Pooh Day!  Last week we celebrated this silly old bear on his creator, A.A. Milne’s birthday – January 18th!

What did you do to celebrate?  Play a game of pooh sticks?  Make some honey cakes? Perhaps take a fun Winnie the Pooh quiz like this one from Disney Parks Blog (click here)?  For me, we watched a marathon of the latest Disney Jr. show to delight my kids, “My Friends Tigger and Pooh”!

This new show has become my favorite Winnie the Pooh entry in the Disney canon!

Winnie the Pooh is such a classic character and you can find him throughout Walt Disney World Resort!  He will stop by your table for a visit at 2 dining locations. First, during all meals at The Crystal Palace in the Magic Kingdom, and second at The Supercalifragilistic Breakfast at the 1900 Park Fare restaurant in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

During the Epcot’s International Flower & Garden Festival, amazing topiaries of Winnie the Pooh lined the pathway of the World Showcase!

My youngest daughter’s first ride EVER, at 5 months old, was The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh!

More recently, I caught him twice during Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party.  First in his regular meeting spot to the left of his ride:

Second, during the Boo To You Halloween Parade.

He really is such a sweet bear! I love that he has his own day!

My Disney Desktop

Here’s some more news that’s come across my desk that I wanted to share!

This weekend, Epcot debuted the Epcot International Festivals of the Arts!  You’ll find visual, performing and culinary art delights!  You can read more about it (click here).

Speaking of Epcot…this beloved park may be going under a transformation.  Read about some announcements and rumors (click here).

There’s been a change up with the release of 2 long awaited sequels.  You can read about it (here).

Many people ask me about ways to enjoy Walt Disney World Resort while not in the parks.  Check out the new Highway in the Sky Dine Around (click here).

The new Magic Bands have started to arrive!  Check out the new bands and let me know what you think about the new design!  Mine should be arriving any day now – so for now you can read about it when you click here…or take a peek here:

Hope you enjoyed these articles – let me know which ones you liked best!  I’ll keep sorting through the good and the bad to bring you the best Disney updates in My Disney Desktop!

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort- French Quarter

Last month I had a wonderful 4 night stay at Disney’s Port Orleans – French Quarter!  I had read many reviews with people raving about this “moderate” Walt Disney World Resort hotel and wanted to see it for myself.  My verdict?…The reviews were correct!  This hotel was a perfect mix of Disney’s magic, detail, and hospitality!

The resort is on the small side – so returning home from the parks made me feel like I was returning home to my little neighborhood.  The feature pool was immaculate and I even tried the pool slide – something I haven’t done since I was a teen – I loved it!  For my youngest daughter – the newly redesigned water splash area (complete with mini water slides of it’s own) was a dream come true!  During this visit the main dining hall, Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory, was under contruction, so we had to make due with the temporary “pop up” type restaurant.  There was bus service available to the neighboring hotel, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside, and we enjoyed a meal at their food court and got to enjoy the different vibe of that hotel!

We focused our trip on the parks, so we didn’t leave room in our schedule for some of the other recreational activities that French Quarter had to offer, but I’m hoping to give them a try on a future visit!

Here’s a “Wordless Wednesday” type look at this special Walt Disney World Resort Hotel!

It’s time for another Disney Friend Friday!

img_9069

After our first full week of school and cranky-crabby mornings, I feel like everyone in my family has been Cinderella and her step mother, Lady Tremaine, all rolled into one.  Do this! Do that! Hurry up!  Meanwhile each of us is doing 1,000 things to get out the door on time!

We met Lady Tremaine, her daughters, Cinderella and the Prince at 1900 Park Fare during Cinderella’s Happily Ever After Dinner at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.  Truth be told, she was far more charming than the prince!  She tried earnestly to set my 5 year old son up with Anastasia and had us rolling with laughter.  The buffet was incredible too – with far more selection than many of the other buffet meals we’ve indulged in.

As for school mornings…We made it through the week and I’m sure next week will be better – I keep believing that the dreams that I wish will come true!

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort

Disney’s Art of Animation Resort  is a truly special and magical place to stay.  As soon as you pass through Animation Hall you exit INTO the movies you love.  You become part of Disney classics!  You’ll walk through Radiator Springs, swim along with Dory, discover treasures “Under the Sea” and embrace the spirit of “Hakuna Matata”! There’s a delicious food court, multiple pools (including the largest pool in Walt Disney World Resort) and use of Disney’s complimentary transportation system.

My family has stayed at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort twice and we fully intend to stay there again!  The family suites are the perfect size to accommodate our family of 5 and the theming can’t be beat!

Here’s a “Wordless Wednesday” type post that combines photos from my 2 stays.  Please feel free to ask me any questions about my time at this resort and I’ll be happy to answer!  Post comments and questions below or on my Facebook page!

Here we go!

How to Plan a Trip to Disney World – A Beginner’s Quick Guide

I go to Disney World more than once a year (4 times this year) – that seems like a lot to some people considering I live in the North East – but I love it there!  I start planning  my next trip in my head before I’ve even left the vacation I’m currently on!  When friends ask me to help them plan their Walt Disney World Resort vacations I always have to keep in mind that they don’t have 3D maps of everything in their mind, schedules running like film in their brains, and ideas for new magical memories to make – they literally want to know what to do to get there and make sense of it all. So I think I’ve finally come up with a few steps to give them a basic outline of what to do without overwhelming them…then I can help them sprinkle some pixie dust along the way.

I’m happy to share these steps with you!…and as this blog grows, I’ll link to future posts that will explain things even more!

First thing’s first, if you haven’t already, sign up for a My Disney Experience Account:   click here
and then download the My Disney Experience App to your phone.
Second, of course is deciding when to go!  Take out those calendars and see what’s a good fit for you.

If you have flexibility you should take into consideration crowd levels (a quick Google search can help you see when schools are on break which usually leads to high crowds).  Every season at Disney has its pros and cons, but…the cons are negligible because YOU’RE AT DISNEY and with good planning you’ll be sure that nothing hinders your fun!
